Hello, my name is Rachel Russell.
I have a Social Sciences BA Hons Degree. I also have a Diploma in Business Admin.
I have vast experience and have worked with children and young adults with severe physical
and learning difficulties for over 20 years, 16 years teaching at Frederick Holmes School
alongside a wide range of disabilities.
My step-daughter has severe permanent learning difficulties coupled with Autism and led me
to my first experience with special needs when I volunteered at Tweendykes School. These
wonderful experiences with my step daughter and other children led me into my chosen
career of working with special needs children and adults.

I founded the charity Bright Star, which has provided activities, excursions and themed day
events in the school holidays, for after school and weekend clubs. We formed close working
relationships and linked with all special schools in Hull and have had many exciting
experiences together, including excursions and parties.
I have a deep commitment to providing exceptional standards of care to people who use our
provision, Same Difference, which includes them feeling valued, safe, stimulated and happy.
